GenAI for Business: Technological Revolution and the Challenge of Responsible Adoption

Rafael Sánchez Torres · Apr 2025 · 5 min read

For several years, I have used Generative AI (GenAI) across very different contexts. At first, I explored it for creating social media content, streamlining the creative process. Then I moved toward open-source models to organize ideas and evaluate administrative scenarios. Today, with advanced tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and DeepSeek, GenAI doesn’t just speed up creative or analytical tasks — it has become central to building complex technology platforms. Our working environment has changed, and there is no going back.

This advance imposes a responsibility on those of us who lead teams: to educate, to train, and to establish clear policies for its correct and effective use. It is not enough to capture its efficiency — it is equally essential to understand the ethical, legal, and economic risks. A recent case is the debate over the use of GenAI in generating journalistic content. In 2023, The New York Times sued OpenAI over the improper use of its material in AI training, placing intellectual property and data consent at the center of the discussion.

To avoid these conflicts, companies must establish clear policies. Microsoft, for example, has adopted a “responsible use” approach to AI, creating specific policies for its employees and clients that ensure transparency and alignment with ethical principles. Far from restricting innovation, these practices make it possible to maximize AI’s potential without compromising security or organizational values.

We are at an inflection point. GenAI has stopped being a promise and become a constantly evolving reality. As leaders, the task is not to resist the change but to adopt it strategically. The question is not whether we should use AI, but how to do it responsibly. Those who understand and master these tools will be better positioned to lead the new era of innovation.

So the real question for every leader is a simple one: Is your company ready to adopt GenAI — responsibly?
